Aims

Our initial aim was to provide portable sensory equipment for each ward and unit in the Wessex Neuroligical Centre at Southampton General Hospital. This equipment stimulates our sense of touch, sight, hearing and smell and can be taken to the patient's bedside or a dayroom with the object of helping brain injured adults and children to recover. It also promotes relaxation and calm for the agitated and stressed.  This was achieved within our first year as a charity. Ultimately, when funds and suitable space become available we aim to equip and maintain a sensory room to be called Anna's room. We will also continue to provide rehabilitation and sensory equipment to aid and assist in the rehabilitation of the brain injured wherever it is needed.

The Wessex Neurological Centre cares for patients whether it be as a result of a road traffic accident, encephalitis, meningitis, epilepsy, Guillain-Barré syndrome, Parkinson's Disease, MS, etc. Whilst based in Southampton, it serves a wider area covering Hampshire, Dorset, Wiltshire, West Sussex, Isle of Wight and the Channel Islands.
