Friday 16th April dawned sunny and bright. I couldn't believe that we were lucky again with the weather! There was a chill wind but the sun shone all day.
This year we had twenty four keen golfers ready to take on the challenge of Milford Golf Club.
Handicaps had been admitted to (a little embelishment by some I feel!!), cobwebs dusted off the trolleys and mice emptied out of the golf bags.
Bacon butties were consumed and a couple of gallons of strong coffee drunk in preparation for tee off. Some even had a practice swing or two! Old friends chatted and caught up with the gossip of the last twelve months. A great atmosphere was building once again.
Unfortunately the Iceland Ash stopped one very keen player from making it - the best excuse I have heard for not competing in a golf tournament! The rest congregated in their foursomes and readied themselves for the onslaught. The starter read the riot act about various rules and regulations and off they went. Some were a little nervous, especially as this year we had a young lady professional playing! A couple of balls were lost on to the A3 but then everyone relaxed and had a great days golf.
A very satisfying meal was served at the conclusion of the day and prizes presented.
First Prize was a Four Ball at Milford, one of two very kindly donated by them. This was won by Dan Rolfe, who also won the 'longest drive' competition.
Second prize, a golf themed hamper, donated by Edinburgh Woollen Mill, Wilton was won by Darren Miles.

Nearest the pin, another four ball at Milford, was won by Nick Hardy
Over all, yet another excellent day and we would like to thank Milford Golf Club for their interest and generosity once again. The total made for Anna's Room was £369.00.
