Christmas this year was very busy. We manned a stall at Winchester Charities Fair for the first time, which was very interesting and productive. This is a fair for all charities, big and small , held in the beautiful Guildhall. There was a steady stream of people who were very interested in the charity and we sold Christmas cards, draw tickets, recipe books and one teddy bear much to our surprise. Another trustee manned a stall at a Christmas fair close to her home in Somerset selling homemade produce and charity items. This too was well worth all the hard work.
This year we commissioned a local artist, Fanny Shorter to design a christmas card for Anna's Room. We were thrilled with the result and had many positive comments. Many packs have been sold and you can see the design on our web site and still buy some for next Christmas!
Our ever popular Christmas Draw was held once again this year. We had some lovely prizes donated by several of our supporters. First prize was a weekend break for two in one of the many hotels on offer. The draw took place in Southampton General Hospital in the Victoria House Rehabilitation Unit. We arrived in the middle of their Christmas Party, which was lovely and were greeted by many old friends. Each ticket was drawn by a different member of staff amidst much fun and laughter. Everyone was thrilled with their prize and one winner was going to put their prize of a 'side stepper' to good use getting fit for this years Barn Dance!!
Once again we sold Christmas Wishes in the entrance to Southampton General Hospital. This is a very emotional, but positive fundraiser. We always meet some lovely people and hear some very touching stories. Hopefully, by writing down their wish for Christmas and hanging them on our Christmas tree they feel they are doing something positive. We hope that some of their wishes came true.
Anna's Room has had a brilliant 2011 and here's to a very healty and productive 2012. Best wishes to you all. |
