Aims

Our initial aim as a charity was to provide portable sensory equipment for each ward and unit in the Wessex Neurological Centre at Southampton General Hospital. This equipment stimulates our sense of touch, sight, hearing and smell and can be taken to the patient's bedside or a dayroom with the object of helping brain injured adults and children to recover. It also promotes relaxation and calm for the agitated and stressed. We achieved this within our first year! We aim to provide a multi sensory room here when space becomes available.

We are now also aiming to equip and maintain sensory environments, rooms and gardens which will be called 'Anna's Room'. We will also continue to provide rehabilitation and sensory equipment to aid and assist in the rehabilitation of the brain injured wherever it is needed.

Our first Anna's Room, a multi sensory room, was opened in the new children's unit at Salisbury District Hospital in March 2011

The second Anna's Room, a multi sensory room, was opened at the John McNeill Opportunity Centre, Salsibury in July 2011

The first Annas' Room sensory garden will be opening in September 2011

Our next room is already in the planning stage and we aim to open that at the end of 2012

  £15 will buy a vibrating snake; £50 will buy a space projector;

£200 will buy a music box (tambourines, castanets, drum, etc); £450 will buy a mood light;

£1000 will buy an Ultra Violet Corner Unit; £3000 will buy a mobile sensory unit (small)

Our target is £250,000
